Why use Facebook LIVE?

Facebook Live lets people, public figures and Pages share live video with their followers and friends on Facebook.

  • Facebook Live videos are more likely to appear higher in News Feed when those videos are actually live
  • People comment 10 times more on Facebook Live videos than on regular videos
  • The average time people spend watching Live videos is more than 3x’s times longer than video that isn’t live
  • One in five Facebook users watches Facebook Live.

  • Facebook LIVE is a perfect resource for hotel marketing. It lends itself to capture moments to show the personality of a property and can be used in numerous ways such as “Behind the scenes” of an event or special occasion. Turn the camera to the event/s around you and let the event unfold.

NEW services, refurbishments, new room categories and outdoor experiences are all perfect to communicate through Facebook LIVE. A LIVE Demo with Chef is always a great idea. You can even hold a Q&A which works best with hospitality or travel brands rather than standalone individual properties.

    Here are our top tips on how to post creative and engaging LIVE video content;

    TOP 10 TIPS

    1. Location & Connectivity
Location is important. Make sure you have a strong 4G connection. The last thing you want is connectivity issues during a live broadcast.

    2. Audience
You can choose who can see your Live video. Go Live just to your friends, or you can set your broadcast to Public. For hotel marketing go LIVE for just friends can create some value as they will be the first to hear of new developments and services as they ae valued friends. Again, it all depends upon the content to be delivered and you can tailor your audience to suit.

    3. Social Promotion
Social Media promotion of “Go LIVE”, ensure you have built up anticipation and an appetite for people to tune into you. You can create some engaging posts with a countdown to Go LIVE and also build in some final reminders for maximum exposure. It’s good also to remind your audience that they can tap on the Follow button on live videos and videos that were live so that they can get notifications the next time you go live.

    4. Create a desire
Be sure to describe what the LIVE video will be about and provide an appealing and catchy title description.

    5. Be Social & Engaging
Live is the best way to interact with viewers in real time so ensure you have engaging conversations with your followers as the broadcast unfolds.

    6. Length
The longer you broadcast, the more likely people are to discover and share your video with their friends and family on Facebook.

    7. Filming
One thing that is overlooked in LIVE broadcasts is the filming. We will be sharing some handy Filming tips from Mobile Devices. Tripod mounts are a useful piece of equipment to consider purchasing for LIVE broadcasts. Apple has an auto focus so ensure you tap the screen as you begin shooting. Lastly, hold the device horizontally and keep it this way to film!

    8. Clear Sign off – Call to action
Ensure you end you broadcast with a clear sign off and depending on the topic an appropriate call to action. If you have a future LIVE broadcast planned now is the time to mention it!

    9. Compliance
Your live video must comply with Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, which applies to all content you upload to or through Facebook. This includes only broadcasting content for which you own and/or control all rights (or have obtained all necessary licenses/permissions to such rights), globally, including rights in any sound recordings or musical compositions included in the video and any performers appearing in it. Make sure to keep the camera on you, and never broadcast the unfolding event, including what is on a stage, field, or any screens.

    10. Evaluation
You can see how the broadcast is going as you are broadcasting and you will receive real time notifications. You will be able to see what different types of broadcasts works the best with your audience and what you need to create more of. Depending upon your audience settings you can also garner direct feedback about what they would like to experience. Once the live broadcast is over your video will be published to the Page or profile so that fans who missed it can watch at a later time. If you are not 100% confident to go LIVE straight away, then you can practice and you can adjust your privacy settings to “Only Me” before you tap the “Go Live” button. It’s a great way to discover new audiences as people love watching video. Your current Facebook fans will be able to keep up with your Live stories in the News Feed, and the broadcast/s will help new followers discover you too!
